Woah, what I’ve always wanted the most,
Is just to catch my breath -- catch up with Apollo’s Ghost
You see, I attended a wedding just the other night
Where the bride was wearing black and the groom was in white
The room had a presence that soaked me through and through
But it wasn’t what I needed, and I didn’t know what to do
When an old man came over and offered me a drink
Something alcoholic, Gin and Tonic, I think
And said, “Woah, I know where you’re at,”
He said, “Woah, I know where you’re at,”
Well the celebration ended much to late to go to sleep
So I resolved to wait up for the sun to surface from the deep.
I sat the night away in a café by the sea,
Where I happened on a younger man who looked just like me
This waiter came over to offer me a drink
Something sweet and soothing, hot chocolate I think
He told me of the specials with a sadness in his eye
Collapsed at the table, started to cry…And offered to buy
I said, “Woah, I know where you’re at,”
I said, “Woah, I know where you’re at,”
Just trying to catch your breath, Just trying to catch Apollo’s Ghost…
Well, we all have stories that go beyond believing
And they made sense in the dream that awakened me last evening,
My baby was a crying, I got up to change his bottom,
But when I got into the bathroom, I realized I’d forgot him
And on the way back to his crib, I stubbed my toe upon the bed
Fell down in a heap and starting crying instead
Cause it was then, that I lost hold of the dream
And I had come so close just to catching my breath…
But my little baby boy, he just looked down at me and smiled
And suddenly he was 87 years old and his hair was gray, long and wild
And he said, And said, “Woah, I know where you’re at,”
He said, “Woah, I was having the very same dream…”
And we’re all down here, trying to catch our breath, We’re all down here just chasing ghosts,
We’re all down here, dreaming of what’s in the sky,
I don’t know why, I don’t know why…
